Anton Harpes’ photographs are often provocative, and occasionally controversial. He strives to produce photographs that are not only beautiful to look at, but which will also create meaning within the viewer. Although he lays no claim to them, he finds the meanings and influences ascribed by others to his work to be infinitely fascinating. He’s especially amused when someone informs him that they don’t like what his pictures are expressing to them - given that the intent behind any of his works have never once been even remotely similar to the perceptions relayed to him by the viewers.
