Emily Carr Reconsidered: Close Encounters Talk

Dr. Gerald McMaster, recently-appointed Curator of Canadian Art, will discuss Carr’s drawings and watercolours in the context of her trips into "Indian country," the social and political conditions of the time, and her relationships with First Nations peoples.
Canadian artist Emily Carr (1871-1945) is best known for her paintings of First Nations villages and landscapes of the Pacific Northwest. This talk is held in conjunction with the exhibition "Emily Carr: New Perspectives".
