Ghost Jail Theatre Season Finale
July 5th, 2009 @ Clinton's Tavern (693 Bloor St., back room),
Featuring Chris Gibbs, Jan Caruana, Uncalled For, Chris Craddock,
the Ghost Jail core cast, and many more!
Toronto, June 19th, 2009 – Ghost Jail Theatre, Toronto's most literate harold-style hybrid improv show, celebrates its final show of the 2008-2009 season by welcoming a bevy of guests, including current Fringe Festival performers, and cast members past and present!
Guests for this season finale show include several stars of the Canadian Fringe circuit, such as Chris Gibbs ( “Antoine Feval”, “The Power of Ignorance”, currently touring “Like Father, Like Son. Sorry.”), Chris Craddock ( “Bashed!”, “Boygroove”, currently touring “Moving Along”), and Uncalled For (“Blastback Babyzap!”, “Thunderspank!”, currently touring “Today Is All Your Birthdays!”). Other guests include Bad Dog Theatre's Jan Caruana (“About an Hour”), The National Theatre of the World's Naomi Sneickus (“Impromptu Splendor”), The Sketcherson's Gary Rideout Jr. (“Point of Departure”, “Todd's Lunch: The Musical”, CTV / The Comedy Network's “Hotbox”), and The General Fools' Mike Fly (creator, “The Improv Monologue Project”).
Ghost Jail Theatre, first launched in October 2007 by co-artistic directors Ian Rowe (co-producer, The Tournament of Wonders) and Caitlin Howden (current Second City Mainstage cast member), is a weekly comedy show, performed for a live audience. The show features monologues and scenes created in the moment without notes or forethought. Each week we randomly select a theme from a piece of writing provided by our audience, and perform our improvised take on that theme.
- “...a thriving weekly show and a not-for-profit with designs on Canada-wide domination... that Ghost Jail is smart-prov at its finest isn’t all that hard to fathom if its origins are considered.” - Kaitlin Fontana, improvisation.ca
- “...The scenes and monologues are consistently laugh-out-loud funny, which is extremely rare for an improvised comedy show. Their timing is impeccable, and scenes never run too long or turn stagnant....Ghost Jail Theatre is undoubtedly funnier than anything on television”. - Amanda Campbell, “The Way I See It”.
