On The Spot 2008
Presented by: Artists' Health Centre Foundation

Big Canadian Talent Joins The Artists’ Health Centre Foundation For The 2nd Annual On The Spot Gala

With the help of some major Canadian talent, On The Spot 2008 will build on the tremendous success of last year’s event while shining the spotlight on artists’ health.

This special evening will be hosted by the formidable Sheila McCarthy (Little Mosque on the Prairie) and will incorporate intimate and eclectic cabaret style performances by Canada’s most prestigious artists including a reading by internationally acclaimed Canadian novelist Michael Ondaatje and performances by Brent Carver (actor) and William Yong (dancer/choreographer).

This event will raise money and awareness for the Artists’ Health Centre Foundation, Canada’s only organization dedicated to improving health care services and resources for professional performing and creative artists in Canada. Last year the first annual On The Spot 2007 raised $35,000 for the expansion of the programs and services provided for professional Canadian artists through the Al and Malka Green Artists’ Health Centre at Toronto Western Hospital.

Quick Facts about the Artists’ Health Centre (AHC) & the Artists’ Health Centre Foundation (AHCF):
•The Artists’ Health Centre Foundation (AHCF) supports programs and services at the Al and Malka Green Artists’ Health Centre (AHC) at Toronto Western Hospital, and in addition, is involved in outreach, education, and prevention services for the over 20,000 professional artists who live in the Toronto area..
•The AHC offers both complementary/alternative and conventional health care to professional creative and performing artists, and to students and staff at post-secondary arts institutions.
•The AHCF provides funding to subsidize complementary treatments at the AHC, supports research into artists’ health issues, and presents workshops and seminars focused on health care and promotion for the artistic community.
