Toronto's illustrious big brass band"The Hannaford Street Silver Band continues the celebrations of its 25th Silver Anniversary season with Showcase in Brass conducted by the HSSB's resident conductor and artistic director Curtis Metcalf.

The afternoon gets off to a fabulous start with the HSSB's solo show pieces: James Curnow's Fanfare & Flourishe followed by Douglas Court's Celebration Overture. The grey days of November will be blown away by the spectacular virtuosity of one of the world's greatest trumpet soloists Allen Vizzutti. He takes centre stage performing his composition Rising Sun and his special show-stopping variations of Carnival of Venice (Trad.). Vizzutti will again raise the roof of the Jane Mallett Theatre performing his Emerald Concerto.

In a massed band finale, members of the Hannaford Youth Band join the HSSB in a rousing rendition of Elsa's Procession to the Cathedral by Richard Wagner (Arr: Himes).

At 2:15 pm a pre-concert chat with Allen Vizzutti, hosted by the HSSB's executive director Ray Tizzard, is held in the lobby of the Jane Mallett Theatre.
