Muhammad of Yorkville/Holy Fuss Presented by: Not Available
Nobody’s Business Theatre is proud to remount last year’s SummerWorks comedy Muhammad of Yorkville accompanied by Holy Fuss, a group art exhibit curated specially for the show.
Muhammad of Yorkville Makes a Pilgrimage to Kensington
Written by Johnnie Walker and directed by Dora award nominated-Morgan Norwich, the play tells the story of a Yorkville art gallery that exhibits a painting of the Prophet Muhammad, sparking a string of debates ranging from thought-provoking to absurd. Muhammad of Yorkville will be performed as a new, site-specific production in Kensington Market’s *Hotshot Gallery. Audiences will have the opportunity to view the art in Holy Fuss before and after performances as well as during the gallery’s regular hours.
Works for Holy Fuss were created by Toronto artists including: Christine Mullen, whose work has been featured in The Globe and Mail; Natalia Laluque, of the gallery Laluque Atelier; and award-winning photographers Istoica.
Muhammad of Yorkville runs August 22 to 31 at 8 p.m. weekdays and Saturdays, and 2:30 p.m. Sundays, with an extra performance at 5:30 p.m. on Aug 31. Holy Fuss can be viewed free of charge daily from 11a.m. to 7p.m. at *Hotshot Gallery, located at 181 Augusta Ave. Tickets for Muhammad of Yorkville are $15 and space is limited. Advanced tickets can be booked through nbtheatre@hotmail.com, or at the gallery. For more information please visit www.nobodysbusiness.ca or www.hotshotkensington.com.
