Quilt of Belonging
Presented by: Canadian National Exhibition

Quilt of Belonging is the largest collaborative work of textile art created on a national scale. Its 263 blocks, representing 71 Aboriginal groups and 192 immigrant nationalities, are a testimony to Canada’s multicultural heritage and identity.

Quilt of Belonging is a stunning, 36-metre long tapestry that shows there is a place for all in the fabric of society. Its 263 blocks portray the rich cultural legacies of all the First Peoples in Canada and every nation of the world. From beaded caribou hides to gold-embroidered silk and butterfly wings, the astonishing range of materials connect the threads of our past to the limitless possibilities of our future.
