Layah Jane has had a busy year so far supporting her sophomore release, Brightness & Bravery, and Toronto’s own singer / songstress is showing no signs of slowing down. After a highly successful 13-date western Canadian tour, Layah dove head first into playing numerous gigs around Toronto, including a packed show at Harlem during NXNE and to a full crowd at Toronto’s City Roots 2008. Layah’s next appearance will be a double-bill with Christine Bougie at Not My Dog on Tuesday, July 29th at 9PM.

Brightness & Bravery has been generating rave reviews across the country and it’s just been announced that Layah has been nominated for a 2008 Toronto Independent Music Award for Best Folk Artist, which will be handed out July 31st at the Phoenix Concert Theatre. As winner of last year’s Ontario Independent Music Awards (OIMAs) for Best Folk Artist, Layah will also be performing at the OIMAs on October 16th at the Phoenix Concert Theatre.
