Duesseldorf Contemporary Redux
Presented by: Susan Hobbs Gallery Inc.

Barrow, Buecking, Courbot, Howlett, Lieber, Lyall, Yates, Vandenburgh

In the spirit of “the show must go on” the gallery is pleased to present düsseldorf contemporary redux featuring the work (mostly new) by younger artists associated with the gallery. Plans and production were well under way when the organizers of dusseldorf contemporary cancelled the fair, which was to be held in April 2008. What to do? Recreate our booth in the gallery as our summer show.

Our selections for the presentation in Düsseldorf reflected a resonant approach, centering around verisimilitude and documenting or re-creating. There is an attention to the ‘built’ environment, whether in taking architecture as subject, constructing or deconstructing functional objects, layering a range of referents, or depicting imagined, natural formations.
