Storyboarding with Ron Hobbs
Presented by: Liaison of Independent Filmmakers of Toronto

Visualize your screenplay!

This workshop will deal with the basic concepts of the storyboard and the sketch, which go into the visualization of a screenplay. Learn the principles of concept and design illustration, continuity sketches and storyboards, the line of axis, and the illustration of camera techniques, shot flow, mood and character. As well, a brief history of storyboarding in Hollywood will be covered. The participants will have the opportunity to practice basic drawings skills and view sample storyboards alongside their actual filmed sequences.

Participants are asked to bring the following materials to the workshop:
blank paper, pencil, eraser.

Instructor:
RON HOBBS is currently a storyboard artist for major motion pictures, television and commercials. As well as drawing out scenes, Ron has contributed story ideas that were incorporated into script - in essence, the script rewrites would be taken from his storyboards at the director's request. He worked on the Academy Award-winning CHICAGO, X-MEN, COLD CREEK MANOR, UNDERCOVER BROTHER, THE RECRUIT and many others. He has also worked as a graphic designer, illustrator, comic artist and magazine publisher ('Video Pages').
