Sherway Gardens' Gallery in the Garden: Here, There & Everywhere
Presented by: Not Available

Sherway Gardens' current Gallery in the Garden exhibit, entitled "Here, There & Everywhere", features artists Cheryl Mount, Karen Walker and Wendy Weaver.

Sherway Gardens (Hwy 427 & the QEW) current Gallery in the Garden exhibit, entitled “Here, There & Everywhere”, features acrylic, oil and watercolour paintings of landscapes, urban landscapes, figures and florals by artists Cheryl Mount, Karen Walker and Wendy Weaver. For more information call 416-621-1070 or visit www.sherwaygardens.ca.

Cheryl Mount majored in Fine Arts at Concordia University, studied printmaking at McGill University and then pursued studies at the British Columbia Institute of Technology, Federation of Watercolour Artists, and Emily Carr College of Art before continuing her Interior Design studies at Sheridan College in Oakville, where she currently resides. Cheryl has a BA from the University of Toronto and taught for the Halton District School Board. She left teaching to continue her creative pursuits: design consultation, designing for renovations, and professional development involving painting. Cheryl has studied with Wilma Stamml’er, with the Oakville Art Society, Dundas Valley School of Art, John Leonard, the Etobicoke Art Group, Neilson Park Creative Centre, Haliburton School of Art, and Harold Klunder. Her work has been exhibited at Woman in Oakville, ArtSpace Oakville, the Muskoka Place Gallery, Peaks & Rafters (Port Carling), Etobicoke Civic Centre, Neilson Park Creative Centre, CJ’s in Bronte, Oakville Art Society, and the Oakville Arts Council. Cheryl has a strong interest in the genre of contemporary landscape and figurative work, which she expresses in this exhibit using gestural brushwork and by exploring colour and design.

Oakville artist Karen Walker has taken an avid interest in the Urban landscape since 2004 when she painted a series in Hamilton. Choosing the media based on the subject matter, she may work in watercolour, oils, acrylic or graphic materials, painting without a road map, not knowing exactly where she is headed. Her paintings represent a journey and she tries to honour what she finds, even if she doesn’t understand the mystery of it. Karen has studied Fine Art at various schools, including the Dundas Valley School of Art, Dundas, Ontario; and the Fine Art Department of Okanagan College, Kelowna, B.C. She has a BA from York University, and a Teacher’s Certificate from U of T. Her work has been exhibited at the Anastasia Gallery in Oakville, at the Dundas Valley School of Art, Carnegie Galley, Dundas, Neilson Park Creative Centre, and in shows sponsored by the Oakville Arts Council, and at Okanagan College. She has shown works in many local juried exhibitions, and in the Canadian Society of Painters Annual Juried Show. Her paintings are in several Corporate Collections as well as in private collections in Kelowna, Toronto, Hamilton, Ottawa, Vancouver, and the Oakville area.

Wendy Weaver is a Toronto painter who spends her summers in the hills of Vermont. She has studied extensively in workshops across North America (Ontario, Quebec, British Columbia, New Brunswick and New Mexico) and in Italy, with the Emily Carr Outreach Program in Florence. In June 2003 she graduated with a four year Diploma in Fine Art (Honours) from the Ontario College of Art and Design (OCAD) in Toronto. In her previous life, she enjoyed a productive career in human resource development, management and teaching at Sheridan College and later the Corporation of the City of Toronto. Wendy is a member of CARFAC (Canadian Artists’ Representation, Visual Arts Ontario, the Women’s Art Association of Canada and the Canadian Artists Representation Copyright Collective.

Sherway Garden’s Gallery in the Garden was established to showcase local artists. The Gallery in the Garden operates all year round and each exhibit is on display for approximately 6 weeks. The Gallery in the Garden is located at Sherway Gardens’ door 3 entrance.
