JackStock the compelling story of a “middle aged New Jersey superstar” and his music, Premieres at ReelHeART June 18, 2008
Documentary feature celebrates aesthetic “opposite” of American Idol phenomenon…
The esteemed ReelHeART International Film Festival (RHIFF) screens the Canadian premiere of the documentary feature “JackStock” as part of its 2008 line-up.
JackStock is like your own private tour of New Jersey’s vibrant underground music scene, and its middle-aged superstar Jack Stock who inspires legions of fans from across the area while remaining completely and utterly unknown to the general public. On the way we are exposed to the motivations behind all musicians, and the drive to perform when the dream of “making it” has long been shattered. “JackStock” is the inspiring story of artistic expression that transcends the illusion of fame and challenges ones ideas of what is artistic success.
JackStock is the first feature-length documentary from Thomas Florek. Mr. Florek’s cult music video “Gangsta Knitter” was featured at ReelHeART in 2007, along the way winning a category prize while inspiring a generation of punk-kntters after being featured in Vogue Knitting’s Knit.1 Magazine.
