Tribute to the designers and marketing genius behind one of Canada’s great design icons, the Clairtone Sound Corporation.

In the 1960s Clairtone Sound Corporation captured the spirit of the times: sophisticated, cosmopolitan, liberated. Famously, Hugh Hefner owned a Project G. So did Frank Sinatra. Oscar Peterson affirmed that his music sounded as good on a G as it did live.

This exhibition pays tribute to the talented designers behind Clairtone and presents approximately 70 artifacts, including stereos, furniture, fashion, photography, vintage marketing materials and graphic design. The exhibit also includes a multimedia component featuring original advertisements, interviews, and clips from Hollywood films. Exhibition and accompanying publication of the same title, co-authored by Nina Munk and Rachel Gotlieb, mark the 50th anniversary of Clairtone’s launch.
