Such A Melodious Racket

In an effort to serve youth within their respective communities, the St. Christopher House Music School formed an alliance with The Archie Alleyne Scholarship Fund. The resulting entity became known as Such A Melodious Racket. Since its 2005 founding, Such A Melodious Racket has gone on to raise funds to advance the cause of young people’s musical education. The premier event which launched this collaboration occurred in February of 2007. The inaugural performance, staged at Toronto’s Bathurst Street Theatre was titled The Evolution of Jazz. In a showcase of illustrious jazz entertainers, including the incomparable Jackie Richardson, the audience was treated to a first-rate journey through jazz, from its African inception, through to ragtime, swing, bop, and beyond. Commitment to the spirit of mentorship, that evening, established musicians shared the stage with young, new talent.
