Mark Berens - Canadian LandscapesPresented by: Willow Gallery of Fine Arts
Oil paintings that concentrate on Canada's beautiful landscape
Creativity is something that has always been present in the life of Mark Berens. In his youth, he would fish the shores of Georgian Bay as his grandparents would patiently perch on small portable stools painting the beautiful surroundings. Following his dream Mark went to OCAD. After completion of his training, Mark pursued editorial illustrative work. With his style constantly changing, his skills were fragmented into different paths. It was at this time, Mark Berens packed his oil paints and his snow board and went to Whistler, BC. During the scenic drive from Vancouver to Whistler, at the top of the mountains, he found new direction to paint. An inspiration that returned him to his youthful days on Georgian Bay and days spent wandering through the McMichael Collection viewing the works of the Group of Seven.
Mark Berens now paints his reflections of the Canadian landscape. He finds inspiration in Canada's unique and breathtakingly diverse beauty. It is a subject matter that is constantly supplying him with an drive to paint.
