Urban Spine

HISTORY OF THE COMPANY Urban Spine is a dynamic theatre company dedicated to the creation of new plays. Founded in 1999, Urban Spine has joined under the umbrella company Bald Ego Theatre to become non-profit registered charitable organization. Urban Spine uses non-traditional staging, celebrating our urban landscape with outdoor settings. Original and provocative, Urban Spine's plays challenge the boundaries of theatre using outdoor venues, large casts, highly visceral physicality, and incorporating original film and music. Proportionally, a large amount of artists have worked for this small theatre company. Since Urban Spine's beginning, over fifty different actors, musicians, designers and filmmakers have collaborated under Urban Spine. MANDATE Urban Spine ’s mandate is to create original works with an emphasis on movement and interdisciplinary collaboration, with a dedication to developing young audiences.
