"... invariably well produced and thought-provoking... highly entertaining..." The Globe and Mail CONTACT started out as a collective of performers and composers who began organizing concerts in casual settings, transcending any perceived boundaries between artist and audience. The idea was to engage an audience and make contemporary music available and accessible to anyone and everyone who would venture a listen... hence the name CONTACT. Eventually CONTACT contemporary music evolved and began presenting concerts that featured guest composers and performing artists while enlisting a regular group of young musicians dedicated to performing adventurous new music. From these concerts, CONTACT, the ensemble began to emerge. By collaborating with many of Canada's established and emerging composers, CONTACT has commissioned and premiered works by Barry Truax, Ann Southam, John Burke, Wende Bartley, Deirdre Piper, Marci Rabe, Theo Mathien and Michael Gfroerer, as well as presenting Canadian premieres of works by international composers including Eve Beglarian, Alessandro Cipriani, Gareth Farr and Amnon Wolman. CONTACT contemporary music is dedicated to the creation, production and presentation of contemporary music, with a focus on Canadian music, representing and recognizing diverse socio-cultural communities. Transcending stylistic boundaries while bending and blending genres, CONTACT presents and performs the music of our time. Postal address Phone:
