Targeting the Healthy Dancer
Presented by: Artists' Health Centre Foundation

Darryl Tracy and Pat Miner will once again help dancers experience a renewed sense of athleticism and flexibility as they learn conditioning phrases developed by pioneer Irene Dowd. This workshop is designed for the dancer/dance teacher who is eager to explore aspects of training and supplemental training that will promote a healthy balance of strength, flexibility and power.

Pat Miner and Darryl Tracy are both faculty members of the School of Toronto Dance Theatre. As colleagues, Miner (highly acclaimed dance teacher & 2004 DanceOntario award recipient) and Tracy (dance artist and physiotherapist) have been collaborating for several years in their approach to dance training. Sharing their combined expertise, they have developed innovative ideas about class work and supplemental training.

Darryl C. Tracy is a Toronto based dance artist, and co-artistic director of Four Chambers dance projects with Heidi Strauss. He has performed across Canada and has had his own choreography featured in performances in Toronto, Montreal, New York City, and on the East Coast. Darryl is also trained as a physiotherapist specializing in neurological rehabilitation and works part time with Physio-Logic Neuro Rehab Clinic.

Patricia Miner is one of Toronto's key modern dance teachers. Her ideas and methods are reflected in her work with Toronto Dance Theatre, The School of Toronto Dance Theatre, the Teachers' Training Program of the National Ballet School, and a myriad of independent dancers and small companies. Miner has spent a lifetime in dance, training with master teachers in ballet, Graham, and Limón, and is the recipient of the 2004 Dance Ontario Award.
