Tapestry New Opera Works is the leading company in Canada dedicated to the development and production of original Canadian opera and music theatre. Beginning with composers and writers, Tapestry provides development, guidance and financial support through the often lengthy, ultimately rewarding, new work creation process. Tapestry pilots new works though to production by securing the appropriate venue, production partners, artistic and financial resources. Tapestry’s annual Composer-Librettist Laboratory (Lib-Lab) introduces composers and writers to the essential ingredient for creating successful music theatre: meaningful collaboration. Innovative artistic producing formats such as Opera Briefs (annual) and Opera to Go (biennial) allow creators a place to experiment and create within the manageable framework of short opera works.
