After its successful premier as part of the Luminato Festival in 2008, the two-time Dora Award-winning opera, Sanctuary Song returns with an intimate performance at Theatre Direct’s Wychwood Theatre. This opera for young people is inspired by the true story of an elderly elephant's journey to freedom in the Tennessee Sanctuary guided by her friend and keeper of 22 years. Sanctuary Song celebrates through words and music, the power of compassion, empathy and the unique communication between elephants and humans.
