Robert Michaels was born in Toronto. At the age of two, with his mother and brother, returned to the land of her birth,
In Arpino, Robert's adolescence was spent in and around his grandfather's restaurant, Il Cavalier. It was here that he was first exposed to music. “In the restaurant, right next to the jukebox, they had an old piano that was once my mother's when she was young. My uncle also played, so what with those weddings, the piano and the jukebox, I was exposed to Italian music from an early age.
